Skiing, Slovenian Style

Damn. Lets give this a try again. I just finished typing all of this and when I hit save as draft it gave me an error. Ok. So it seems like its been forever since I have posted. Let me fill you in. Saturday I went to a band competition to see some friends play. There were seven bands competing. The winner got to be in an upcoming music festival this summer. My friend George is in two bands. One of his bands made it. Congrats. Monday I left via bus then train to Bohinj Zlatorog to do some skiing. The trip took about three hours. It was nice until we started picking up school kids. I am glad I had my Ipod to drown out their adolescent jabber. Thank you Steve Jobs. I stayed at a penzion called Penzion Stare. It was on the Bohinj lake. It was really, REALLY quite. When I got there it started to rain and the wind picked up. I had some time to kill before dinner so I walked around for a bit. Here are some pictures and a video I took.

My room was a single with a bathroom and shower. My dinner and breakfast were included in the room. There were two other people staying there. Since it was the low season it was absolutely empty. Because of that I was in bed rather early. The next day I awoke to a simple yet satisfying breakfast of museli, coffee, bread and jam. Then it was off to the slopes. To get to Vogel you had to take a gondola up. This was my second time on a gondola but the highest one. It was surreal to see the whole valley covered in fog. I wish I would have taken a picture. My skiing was good. I wish there were would have been more runs but it was still nice. It was only my second time skiing but I had gotten better. I skiied for about four hours before I called it a day. By the 3 o'clock hour the snow had gotten bumpy from the heat of the sun and then the freezing. It made it hard to turn. Today I went to Piran. It is on the Adriatic sea near Italy. It reminded me of Venice. If you were to drop me blindfullded I would have sworn I was in Italy but with the people speaking Slovenia instead of Italian. Here are a few pictures.

I am off to Zurich on Saturday for 4 days. Then to Basel for 3. Finally Instabul. I can't wait. Cheers.
